2010 GRAND PRIX RULES
General
The purpose of the ORRRC Grand Prix is to recognize members who participate and volunteer at a variety of club races. The participants accumulate points to determine annual club champions in age group divisions. Registration Awards are given in each age group to all participants who meet the minimum requirements. Members who wish to participate should register by April 30. Those who register after April 30 may do so but will not receive retroactive credit for races or volunteer points. Information needed to register is name, gender, birth date, and either phone number or email address. Contact the Grand Prix Coordinator to sign up.
Requirements
Race participation - Runners 15 and over must finish two club races in each of the three distance categories (two category A races, two category B races, and two category C races) and earn 20 volunteer points. Runners 10-14 must finish four category A races and two category B races. Runners 9 and under must finish any 6 Grand Prix races.
Volunteering - Runners 14 and under must earn 10 volunteer points. In all cases, a portion of the volunteer points must be earned by working two of the following events: Marathon/Half Marathon, Lou Cox race/expo, Ghosts and Goblins race, and the Turkey Trot. Volunteer points will be accumulated from November 1 to October 31. Please note: This means that volunteering for the Turkey Trot counts towards the next year's volunteer points.
Scoring
Points will be awarded by age group (determined as of July 1, 2010) as follows: First - 10 points, Second - 8 points, Third - 6 points, and all other finishers 4 points. Runners 9 and under will receive 10 points for each finished race.
Volunteer Points
Volunteer Points will be kept by the participant on the honor system and reported to the Grand Prix Point of Contact upon request. One point is earned for every hour of volunteering.
Results
Results are posted on the ORRRC website on a periodic basis beginning in March. The points may change as new members join through the end of April. It is expected that participants will maintain their own records and periodically review their results. Questions or Mistakes?
2010 Grand Prix Qualifying Races
Note: Categories are determined by the planned race distance as given by the race director. The category will not be changed when changes are required before or during the race. The governing category is what is posted here. The plan is for category A to be less than 3.9 miles, B to be 4.0 - 9.2, and C to be 9.3 and greater. For example, if you run a race that was planned to be 4 miles and was scheduled as a B race, but due to flooding or some other reason is cut short to 3.5 miles, it would still be a B race. Races are subject to rescheduling and cancellation.
